Co mě v Jerevanu mile překvapilo bylo množství stromů lemující jeho ulice. Ekologické aktivistky se kterými jsem se díky mému hostiteli z Couchsurfingu setkal byly však překvapené tímto mým názorem. Zatím ne příliš organizovaně bojují proti kácení městské zeleně a jejímu ustupování stavbě v centru města. Loni pod názvem Mashtots park movement okupovali park Mashtots v centru Jerevanu, kde mělo vyrůst jakési obchodní centrum. Jejich akce (na rozdíl od té letošní istanbulské) byla úspěšná, přestože se je policie několikrát pokoušela rozehnat. V současnosti se také podílejí na záchraně lesa Teghut před vykácením z důvodu rozšiřujícího se těžařského průmyslu (http://teghut.am/en).
In Yerevan I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of trees along some of its streets. Environmental activists that I met thankfully to my Couchsurfing host were surprised by this opinion. They are fighting against cutting the trees and reducing of urban greenery. Last year as the Mashtots Park Movement they were occupying the Mashtots park in the city centre of Yerevan against a construction of a shopping mall. Despite the repeating police actions they were successful (unlike in Istanbul this year). Nowadays the activists take a part in the Save Tenghut Civic Initiative that is trying to protect the Tenghut forest against the growing mining industry in Armenia (more on: http://teghut.am/en).
Další co mě v Jerevanu mile překvapilo byly některé veřejné služby. V kaňonu, který se táhne jerevanem, lze například u řeky nalézt venkovní posilovnu a malý bazén napájený čistým pramenem. Vadou na kráse je to, že jde o velmi maskuliní místo. Nezaznamenal jsem žádné otužující se či posilující či u řeky posedávající a vodku pijící ženy.
I was also pleasantly surprised by some of the public services that can be found in the streets of Yerevan. In the Yerevan's canyon a public gym and a fresh spring water pool can be found. Such a pity that it is so masculine place. I could not see any woman hardening her body in the cold spring water and in the gym neither drinking vodka by the river.
Více než veřejná posilovna jsou v horkém letním Jerevanu užitečná veřejná pítka, na která lze narazit opravdu na mnoha místech a která jsou hojně využívána.
During the hot summer days frequently used public drinking fountains are more important than the public gym. You can find them at many places.
Každý večer do centra města přiláká davy místních fontánová šou na Náměstí republiky doprovázená klasickou i již klasickou rockovou hudbou.
Every night crowds of locals are coming to see the fountain show at the Republic square.
Dalším zajímavým veřejným kulturním projektem je Cafesjianovo muzeum umění na (a v) Jerevanské kaskádě, schodišti v centru města. Kaskádu na své náklady zrekonstruoval a pak zde vystavil svoji uměleckou sbírku Gerard Cafesjian, potomek arménských uprchlíků před tureckou genocidou v USA.
Another interesting public cultural project is the Cafesjian Museum of Art at (and inside of) the Yerevan Cascade. The Cascade on his own expense reconstructed and exposed his art collection there Gerard Cafesjian. A descendant of Armenian genocide refugees in USA.
Tím jsem se dostal k stále nedořešené otázce mezi Arménií a Tureckem, kvůli které jsou hranice mezi těmito zeměmi uzavřeny. Na fotce je pomník arménské genocidě v Jerevanu.
By this I got to the unresolved problem between Armenia and Turkey. On the picture you can see the memorial of the Armenian genocide in Jerevan.
V této souvislosti je trochu děsivá reklama, na kterou jsem narazil v jerevanském metru. Ona totiž arménská posvátná hora Ararat (a mnoho dalších míst jako jezero Van) leží nyní na území Turecka.
In relation to the problem the advertisement that I found in the subway of Yerevan is a little bit scary because the Armenian holy mountain Ararat (and many other places like the lake Van) is in Turkey nowadays.
Nazpět ke službám v Jerevanu, nyní již komerčních... Bohužel jsem nepřišel na to, v čem přesně vězí výhody růžového taxíku pro ženy (viz. muži ve voze).
Back to the public services. Now a commercial one... Unfortunately I did not find out what are the advantages of these pink taxis for woman (see the two men inside).
A na konec ještě komplikovaný příběh jedné ženy, neteře arménského hrdiny. Paní sedící napravo pod cedulí již přes rok bydlí v pruchodu za ní. Při nevyjasněných (nebo jsem spíše nepochopil jakých) dědických machinacích přišla o byt a nikdo jí zatím nepomohl domoci se práva. Jedním z pokusů jak na svoji situaci upozornit veřejnost byla tři týdny trvající hladovka. Její současný domov včetně vystaveného zbytku stanu je na obrázku níže. Stan vystavený za postelí, ve kterém zpočátku bydlela, jí byl zničen při jednom ze zásahů policie.
And finally a complicated story of one woman a niece of an Armenian hero. The women sitting under the plaque on the right side has been living in the passage behind for more than one year. She lost her flat in some complicated (or maybe better if I say that I did not understand which) inheritance machinations and now there is nobody willing to help her. One of her attempts how to attract the public attention was a three weeks lasting hunger-strike. You can see her present dwelling below the text. The tent exposed behind the bed was damaged during one of the police attacks.
A na úplný konec ještě podivný oltář (a jeho artefakty), který jsem objevil pod venkovním amfiteátrem za Kinem Moskva. Komu asi patří?... Jeden z důvodů proč se vrátit do Jerevanu do Jerevanu a zjistit víc!
And at the very end a freaky altar (with its artifacts) that I discovered behind the Cinema Moscow. Who made it?... one of the reasons why to come back to Yerevan and discover more!
